Composer in Residence

We are excited to announce that composer Elaine Agnew started her residency with Music Generation Louth in September 2025.

As one of Ireland’s most gifted composers and experienced creative music facilitators, we are honoured to have her join us. We have a range of exciting initiatives planned to give children and young people the chance to work with Elaine to develop their creative music making skills.

Our new composer initiative is supported by the Creativity and Collaboration Fund, derived from a combination of funding from the Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaíon, the Department of Education and Youth and philanthropic funding from U2 and The Ireland Funds.

Hurry Home! New Music for Christmas

Over the autumn term, working alongside our team of musician educators and writer/presenter John Toal, our composer in residence Elaine visited the Drogheda hub  and two MG Louth partner schools St Peter’s NS and St Paul’s NS, to create new Christmas music with the children and young people.  The project culminated in an epic Christmas performance entitled Hurry Home! for families and friends in the beautiful St Peter’s Church of Ireland, Drogheda on 15 December.
