A group of talented young musicians from across Louth came together in the Oriel Centre Dundalk recently to participate in Music Generation Louth’s 3 day course Pick Up and Play: Summer Sessions.
Over the 3 days the musicians were introduced to modern song writing and production techniques. The students worked in groups to write, produce and record their own music using guitars, bass, keyboard and drums. Additionally, equipment such as samplers and loop pedals were showcased to give the participants a flavour of modern technology and recording techniques. Everyone worked hard to complete their songs in what was a very tight timescale and all were very pleased with their final productions. Blathnaid Rafferty’s mum Sharon Wall said:
“Blathnaid was thrilled when she heard her group’s song yesterday. She really enjoyed the course her only complaint was that it wasn’t long enough! The 3 days flew by. Well done again on providing another fantastic course.”
The sessions were planned and delivered by Music Generation Louth
Tutors Paul Campbell and Colin Berrill, assisted by recording engineer Jason Varley.
Music Generation Louth continues with its popular music programme Pick Up and Play next term at centres in Dundalk, Drogheda and Louth.
