ABOUT

WHO WE ARE

Music Generation Louth is a music education service that provides a range of opportunities throughout the county for children and young people to learn music. It is part of Music Generation – Ireland’s National Music Education Programme, initiated by Music Network, co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds, the Department of Education and Skills and locally by Create Louth and the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board.  Dundalk Institute of Technology provides support-in-kind.

Louth Music Education Partnership
Music Generation Louth is under the direction of the Louth Music Education Partnership, an inter-agency collective and subcommittee of the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board. The Louth Music Education Partnership was established in 2010 in order to take a strategic approach to the development of music education for children and young people in the county.

The Partnership commissioned extensive research on music provision for children and young people in Louth. The information informed the development of the Louth MEP’s strategic plan and proposal to Music Generation for seed funding to set up a coordinated and comprehensive music service for the county. In May 2011, it was announced that Louth was one of the first three counties selected for participation in the programme.
